Koral za svoje staniste koristi pescanu ili muljevitu podlogu i interesantan je kupasti oblik baze skeleta koji nam ujedno daje vrlo laku identifikaciju korala.

Inace rod Trachyphyllia sadrzi samo jednu vrstu po kojoj je i nazvana ova tema - rachyphyllia geoffroyi.
